Using Git

IMPORTANT: Although Git is a core tenant of our platform, we make every effort to keep this abstracted from end users. We also openly embrace editing your journal outside of our platform.

Why Git?

You are in control of all the data that we use to find matches. Using git means that the data we have access to is 100% in your control.

For every post, we keep a Markdown (.md) and a JSON (.json) file. Our scoring system never sees more than this single isolated file.

• Your Control: The document lives in your repository, not ours.

• Automic History: Git already tracks every revision of your journal.

• Automatic Backups: Updates are made by synchronizing multiple copies.

• Update Anywhere: GitHub/GitLab are used by developers across the globe.

• Trivial integration: Countless projects already provide integration.

GitHub and GitLab are the industry standard, and many people already have an account on one of them. Both provide everything needed within their free tiers.
